“The Intellectual Yet Idiot knows at any given point in time what his words or actions are doing to his reputation. (Taleb, 127)
Intellectual Yet Idiot (IYI) is a great way to describe the person who speaks out of two sides of their mouth.
It’s also the person who makes absurd claims and uses words like “always”, “never” and “must” before saying “studies show…” This is the person who tells you the foods to NEVER eat, the exercises to NEVER do, and the three easy tricks you MUST do to get in shape.
It’s also the person with a cushy job in a University telling normal people how to live. That depressed person who has the free time, faculties and desire to tell you the way to live a happy life.
Be weary of the IYIs. They’re few in numbers, but they’re very loud.
Question of The Day
What example behaviors can you think of that fit an Intellectual Yet Idiot?
